    Hi Janice. I've just found your channel from your excellent video on Helicon photo stacking. Something I've recently been trying and found your video very helpful. I'm interested in your other subjects about selling prints. I've sold a few on Etsy but now that I've retired I've more time to devote to it. One thing that puts me off is that when I see some of the scenery in parts of the US, I feel that there's very little to compare here in Ireland where I live. Maybe a case off the grass is always greener? I'm going to check out a few more of your videos to see if you can help me. Thanks.

    Thank you for doing this video, like you said you would. After over 10 years of going to galleries and connecting with the gallery owners with no success on top of computer issues I’ve been having lately. Oh wow, that's totally different, but if that's your mission, I wish you the best. It's a bummer that there has been no success for 10 years. I wonder why?

    • @stevenwaynephoto
      @stevenwaynephoto Месяц назад

      @@photobizmethod Trading the stock market was my choice for a career before choosing photography. I chose photography because it has been my life’s passion to be a photographer. Warren Buffett is famous for being an extremely wealthy investor and saying invest in yourself follow your passion and you’ll become profitable. That’s why I chose photography. I’ve had some success in international competitions I’ve been in two group shows at a museum. I sold prints to a local interior decorator. But I’ve never come close to making the amount of money I’ve invested into photography. I figured after a couple museum shows one of the Six credible galleries within driving distance would want to do a show but no. Not a lot of galleries to choose from and the Galleries in this area ONLY do shows with more well known photographers. I told myself when I started photography it could take 10 years to get to where I want to be in the art world. I’ve given it over ten years I’m probably on the cusp of getting to where I want to be but life and my goals have changed.And I’m tired of investing into my dream job that may never happen. For the last year I’ve been investing my time, energy and money into what I should have done instead of choosing photography as a career and that’s do as Warren Buffet does and not listen to his it’s ok if you do what you love you’ll end up rich anyway comment. And that’s investing in a career where the probability of making large amounts of money if you stick through the learning curve is far greater than being an extremely wealthy artist. If my dad can make money in the stock market, I know I can. If I can teach myself photography and be included in two museum shows with professors and the other great photographers from the area in which I live. I can make it in the stock market. The main reason I asked you if you knew of way to get noticed by a gallery was to see if you could tell me anything I haven’t already read or tried. Thank you again for doing the video as you said you would. If you would like to see my work www.stevenwayne.org I’ll probably continue to keep this website going for as long as I live to hang on to that dream.

    Going to watch more of your videos and maybe you’ve talked about this. One issue I’ve had with galleries is they say photography doesn’t sell. These galleries I’m going to have shows dedicated to photography but not many and usually with a more well known photographer or a photographer who has been taught by someone important. The only way around this that I can think of is to try and make my own name as an artist bigger than it currently is by entering photography contests and trying to get into group shows with a museum. Getting into a group show at a museum was the one thing so far that increased the views on my website but still no one reaches out to purchase my work. How do you get a gallery to want to show your work? How do you get people to reach out and want to purchase your work? Asking a client why they want to purchase a print is great if they want to buy one, but what if you can’t get a gallery to show your work.? Maybe I haven’t tried hard enough a lot of it probably has to do with where I live. Not many galleries here. Maybe it’s because I’m not willing to sell cheap prints. What do you think. Can you do a video or direct me to a video where you’ve talked about this?

    • @photobizmethod

I keep my website running and upload to it occasionally because I do have an audience even though they don’t reach out to purchase. I’m currently studying the art of trading the stock market. The career path I probably should have taken instead of photography. When I make money in the market and I have the money to take your course I’ll reach out to you. I am 75 years old. I have read the history of photography from the aesthetics to the chemistry to it's acceptance (or not) of photography as an accepted fine art form. I always thought that Ansel Adams stopped creating, developing and investigating much before he could have in favor of grass monetary considerations. To a child of or participant in Depression Times in the US or Europe, I can't blame him but I think he could have done more and better art

    Hi Janice, Thank you for this video. Great content and fantastic delivery. Yes, I was surprised to hear about his soft-focus images. I saw his exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston a couple of years ago. I only recognized a handful of the images. I would say, I had not seen 95% of the images before! Your video is so timely for me as I am getting ready to launch my website and introduce my work.

    What other insights do you have about Ansel Adams? Were you surprised he made soft-focused images too?

    • @artfrontgalleries1818
      @artfrontgalleries1818 3 месяца назад

      Did you know that he did commercial/product work? He did nudes and fashion? That with the possible exception of Eugene Smith he was the most technically innovative printer ever? Does anyone remember the "Zone System' of print making. It works. It is complicated, tedious, and time consuming but if you are in a darkroom and need that perfect 11x14 or 20x24 that shows your audience exactly how you wanted the image to to look to the rest of the world, this is it.

    • @photobizmethod
      @photobizmethod 3 месяца назад

      @@artfrontgalleries1818 yep I knew :). I'm a product of the film world and had to learn digital, lol. One of my professors was taught by the f64 club so he drilled us on the zone when we were in the darkroom. It was a challenge and fun. I still remember us making dodge and burn tools...nothing fancy at all but they worked with torn paper and wires hehehe I have to say that I do miss those time but I am having fun with digital too.

    So embarrassed but I can't find the stacked photos! I'm low-tech but really want to see what I can do with Helicon Focus. How do I know where they were saved? Your video is really clear -- thank you so much!

      Don't be embarrassed. I had the same problem. Go to the preferences in Helicon and look for the export area. You can tell the program where you want the stack to go after it's put the image all together. My question to you is... Did you use something like Lightroom to push to Helicon to merge your images together or did you do everything in Helicon?

      Dear Janice, Thank you so much for replying to me. I only used Helicon. I will go into preferences and see if I can find the export area. I am so excited to try some macro photos as the flowers are starting to bloom. Again thank you very much and have a great day!
